There likely isn’t a single person who thoroughly enjoys cleaning out a toilet bowl.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner

If you’re trying to become more eco-friendly, as is encouraged for the safety of the environment, consider creating your own toilet bowl cleaner using all-natural ingredients. This will further protect the harm done to the environment while keeping your toilet bowl as clean as possible by reducing stains and filth.

Important Ingredients for Creating Eco-Friendly Toilet Cleaners

  • Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Lemon Juice
  • Borax
  • Peroxide
  • Peppermint Oil
  • Castile Soap
  • Toothpaste
  • Salt

Simple Recipes

In all actuality, most of the ingredients listed above can be combined to create an eco-friendly cleaning agent for the toilet bowl. Nonetheless, combining ½ quart of water and a ½ quart of vinegar with an ounce of castile soap, you will have a light spray efficient for toilet bowl use.

For a heavier cleaner, combine borax with either vinegar or lemon juice. This will create a paste. Leave the paste sit in the toilet bowl for several hours and use an abrasive cloth or soft brush to scrub away the stains within the toilet bowl after the paste has had a chance to settle. After scrubbing, rinse or flush the toilet bowl clean.

Why is it Important to Use Eco-Friendly Cleaners?

It’s important to use natural and chemical-free cleaning agents in the home, especially in sinks, bathtubs and toilets. When chemicals are used near water sources, they are released into the water, which is hazardous to our health as well as the health of all other living creatures.

Some people believe that natural ingredients won’t clean as effectively as cleaning agents that contain chemicals, however this isn’t true. All-natural ingredients can be just as effective!

Baking soda acts harshly when cleaning stains, and it even deodorizes foul scents. Vinegar and lemon juice are acidic which can help reduce and eliminate the appearance of stains. Lemon juice also creates a wonderful fresh scent, which is why it is found in many cleaning products found at stores.

Toothpaste is thick and great when something is in need of a good scrub, while borax can be used for the same thing. When these ingredients are combined, they can create a safe and effective cleaning agent for the toilet bowls and other areas throughout your home!
